In case anyone else runs into this, I had the Harmony Remote Software 7.7.0 installed on my Windows 7 desktop when I upgraded to the Windows 10 tech preview [starting with the first publicly available build]. I've since upgraded to Build 9926.
For the first time since upgrading to Windows 10 I tried to make changes and update my remote [Harmony One]. Everything appeared to work fine in the software until I actually clicked to update the remote, at which time it sat there as if it couldn't talk to the remote. The device was visible in the device manager but no joy.
After trying a few things [un-plugging/re-plugging, reboot, running as administrator etc] I finally found success by uninstalling the Logitech Harmony Software, removing the device, then re-installing the software.
Everything appears to be working normally now. I just wanted to post this somewhere so that if anyone else runs into this they might actually find useful information in a search since I was not so lucky.
